Email 'digest' feature helps manage the flow of information to parents

Multiple messages rolled-up into a single email to parents

Multiple messages - even from different members of staff - are automatically 'rolled-up' into a single email at the end of each day

Many schools have been quick to take advantage of a new SchoolPost feature which makes it even easier to manage the timing and flow of information to parents by email.

The system settings now include an option to set a 'default daily message time' for all non-urgent communication. When a teacher or administrator creates a new message they can choose whether to let the message join the 'roll-up' or 'digest' email which will go out at the default time, or if their message is urgent or requires special attention they can over-ride this setting and send the email immediately.

The feature was added in response to feedback from parents and schools, some of whom - especially larger schools - were finding that take up of the system had been so good that parents were often being sent several messages during the course of a day. Previously staff could manage this manually by changing the timing of their messages, but now the system takes care of it automatically, ensuring that routine communication - even from different members of staff - is bundled up into a single email to parents at the end of the day.

In addition to this parents also have various options for managing their own email settings, with the ability to choose daily or weekly summary emails at as many different email addresses (e.g. home and work) as they wish. School administrators have the option to over-ride these settings for a specific message to ensure that an urgent or emergency message is delivered immediately to all parents regardless of any other settings.

The combination provides a powerful yet flexible system which enables schools to easily publish a wide range of information to parents - from routine letters to emergency messages, reports, assessments and attendance information - but ensures that parents are not bombarded with individual emails from different members of staff throughout the day.

SchoolPost continues to evolve and develop based on feedback and input from schools. Please contact us if you would like further information about forthcoming developments or if you would like to discuss your school's specific communication requirements.
